Looking at pics of the e, its not an old Dell – but it seems to be very limited in CPU upgradabliltiy. Well I went down your pat and it sure is mighty confusing but it appears that there is much erroneous info out there and to me all you can use are Pentium 4 cpu’s which may include some early dual core “D” chips, but not Core 2 duos that I can see.
But other than perhaps the cooling fan being changed – you’re stuck with the same CPU. Get a Vantec Stealth fan with 4 connectors which is what Dell should be using.
